We have partnered with an established, fast-growing Real Estate Investment firm in its search for a Senior Accountant. This position will focus primarily on complex Expense reporting, along with the company’s Accounts Payable cycle. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this individual will serve as a key player in all aspects of expense reporting for numerous entities, funds, and properties. This person will utilize in-depth knowledge of complex business ownership structures in order to accurately maintain and allocate expenses throughout the company, while also ensuring timely payments. Job duties will include, although not be limited to:
- Full-cycle Accounts payable for multiple entities, including review of purchase order and approvals, invoice matching, payment processing, and related journal entries.
- Learning and maintaining detailed knowledge and strong understanding of the company’s complex ownership structure, which includes numerous entities, funds, and properties.
- Preparing complex Expense allocations for a variety of corporate expenses, while utilizing knowledge of company ownership structure to apply accurate allocation amounts to the appropriate entity, fund, and/or property.
- Effectively utilizing financial systems including Netsuite and Expensify for A/P and expense processing and record-keeping.
- Oversight of internal controls related to Accounts Payable, Procurement, Expense reporting, and Payment processing.
- Co-leading corporate trainings and company-wide seminars in order to teach groups of employees the appropriate processes & procedures for corporate expense reporting and reimbursement.
- Assisting the Controller and Assistant Controller with external audit coordination, while working directly with Big 4 auditors.
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- At least two (2) years of Accounting experience in a professional environment, including hands-on exposure to Accounts Payable and Expense reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, although not required.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to present in front of groups of employees during company-wide trainings.
- Previous experience utilizing ERP and other systems such as Netsuite, Expensify, etc. Strong Excel skills are also needed.
- Ability to grasp and maintain a detailed working knowledge of complex ownership structures within the company, including numerous entities, funds, and properties.
- Prior background in an industry such as Private Equity, Real Estate, Development, Investments, etc. is a plus.
