We are assisting a small, established Professional Services company in its search for a Director of Accounting. This position will be responsible for managing an Accounting department consisting of 10+ staff, including several direct reports, while serving as a trainer, reviewer, mentor, delegator, and supervisor. The Accounting Director will report to the CFO/COO of the company, and will function as a key point of contact for clients and other business partners.
Please note that this position is fully in-office / on-site, and the company is located in Northwest Austin.
Job duties will include, although not be limited to the following:
- Oversight and review of monthly close processes for numerous small entities, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
- Preparation and review of numerous financial statements and other reporting packages on a monthly basis.
- Serving as an effective leader of the Accounting department, while hiring, training, and developing staff as needed.
- Monitoring the workflow of the team, while delegating tasks and projects in order to maintain staff productivity and morale.
- Utilizing several different accounting ERP systems in order to navigate client financial systems, while building and maintaining a knowledge base of each individual system.
- Partnering with staff in order to develop and implement process improvements, navigate systems, and create efficiencies.
- Serving as the subject-matter-expert within the company for GAAP-related items and other industry-specific accounting standards.
To be considered, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or a related field (with significant Accounting coursework) is required.
- Seven or more (7+) years of progressive Accounting experience is needed.
- At least two (2) years of supervisory experience, including managing a team of 5+ members with multiple direct reports.
- Prior experience within the Professional / Client Services sector is preferred, but not required.
- Proven team leadership skills, including hiring, training, developing, reviewing, and mentoring staff.
- A strong understanding of GAAP, along with intermediate-to-advanced level Excel skills.
- A high degree of systems acumen, including prior utilization of multiple ERP systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client-service skills are needed.
