Controller / Director of Finance

Fast-growing, privately-held Service company is seeking a Controller for a key leadership position. Reporting directly to the CEO/President, this individual will function as the “de-facto” CFO, while managing all Accounting & Finance functions for the company, and working closely with Investors, Board members, and other Executives. The company is financially-backed by a Private Equity firm, and is growing both organically and through acquisitions. The Controller will have the opportunity to take on increasing levels of responsibility and exposure, while promoting to VP Finance or CFO title in the future, as the company continues to expand.

Job duties will include, although not be limited to the following:

  • Hands-on oversight of monthly close processes and G/L maintenance, along with A/P, A/R and Payroll functions
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Managing a small Accounting team; Progressive managerial duties may include oversight of HR, Administration, plus larger Accounting and Finance team
  • Partnering with the CEO on FP&A duties such as Budgeting, Forecasting, Analysis, and long-term Financial Models, while taking progressive ownership of those items
  • Enhancement of accounting systems and processes, particularly those related to Billing, Procurement, and Cost accounting, while creating and maintaining Internal Controls
  • Assisting the CEO with preparation of reporting and presentations for Board of Directors meetings
  • Serving as key point of contact for external Auditors, along with Tax CPA firm, Bankers, and outsourced IT firm
  • Participating in M&A activity, including due diligence and integration of newly-acquired entities

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting or related field, with sufficient Accounting coursework
  • Between 7-to-15 years of progressive accounting experience is desirable for this role
  • CPA license is highly preferred, although not a requirement. MBA is a plus.
  • Background working for a small to mid-sized company is desirable
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, along with exposure to FP&A items such as budgeting, forecasting, analysis, etc.
  • Strong managerial skills, with at least two (2) years of team leadership experience
  • Proven ability to implementing or enhancing new systems, processes, and internal controls
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
