Director of Finance

We have partnered with an expanding Media & Technology company based in Austin, TX in its search for a Director of Finance. The company has several platforms within its growing portfolio of entities, and is dedicated to advancing long-term Health & Wellness through modern science and proactive care. The Director of Finance will serve as a hands-on FP&A leader and Controller, while reporting to the CFO/COO, and leading the company’s financial operations as it scales its numerous business ventures. This person will blend big-picture financial strategy with day-to-day operational excellence, while partnering with other leaders within a mission-driven organization. Job duties will include, although not be limited to the following:

  • Overseeing cash flow across all entities, while monitoring bank accounts and intercompany transactions.
  • Performing hands-on accounting for multiple business ventures, while leading the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, and applying technical accounting knowledge as needed (specifically around ASC 606 for SaaS-based revenue streams).
  • Managing all aspects of FP&A for various business ventures, including budgeting, forecasting, variance & trend analysis, treasury, and financial reporting.
  • Assisting the CFO/COO with preparation of reporting & presentations for Board of Directors meetings.
  • Serving as the main point of contact for third parties, including the external CPA firms (Audit and Tax), Banks, Consultants, Payroll & IT providers, and other key vendors / business partners.
  • Building the internal Accounting & Finance department as the company continues to expand, while managing a small team of staff.
  • Monitoring e-Commerce systems to ensure revenue reporting accuracy, while enhancing e-Commerce payment systems, functionality, and profitability.
  • Leading the optimization of business processes & procedures, while implementing & enhancing internal controls, financial systems, and other best practices
  • Partnering with other leadership team members to align Financial Strategy & Operations with corporate growth initiatives.

To be considered, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Six or more (6+) years of progressive, post-graduate Accounting & Finance experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
  • CPA license is strongly preferred, although not required. A strong understanding of GAAP, including ASC 606, is needed.
  • Previous background working for a small-to-mid sized company with multiple entities is highly desirable.
  • A proven mixture of both Accounting and FP&A skills, including Budgeting, Forecasting, Analysis, General Ledger maintenance, Financial Statement preparation, etc.
  • Prior experience within a SaaS or e-Commerce business environment is a plus.
  • A hands-on, start-to-finish mentality is needed, with a combination of big-picture Finance strategy and day-to-day Accounting acumen.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills are needed.
