We are assisting an established, fast-paced SaaS company in its search for a Sr. Accountant. This position will be fully-remote, but candidates should reside in Austin, Texas, as the team has monthly in-person meetups, along with quarterly company gatherings.
The Senior Accountant will serve as a key member of the accounting team for an expanding, PE-backed technology company. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this individual will perform core accounting functions, support M&A integrations, assist with system implementations, and ensure financial compliance within a dynamic, growth-oriented business environment. Job duties will include the following:
- Serving as a key participant during core accounting activities, including general ledger account reconciliations, cash management, accounts payable, financial statement variance analysis and ad-hoc projects.
- Performing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in accordance with US GAAP, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Assisting with ad-hoc reporting as requested by Executives, along with Private Equity ownership.
- Overseeing Revenue recognition for subscription services in compliance with ASC 606.
- Hands-on accounting for items such as Fixed Assets, Prepaids, Intangibles, Sales & Use Tax, and Intercompany transactions.
- Supporting M&A activity, including post-acquisition integration of newly acquired entities.
- Participation in the implementation and optimization of ERP and other financial systems, with a primary focus on NetSuite.
- Collaborating with the external Audit firm, while assisting the annual audit process.
- Coordinating with external tax/CPA firm to ensure accurate and compliant tax reporting.
- Working with cross-functional partners in FP&A, Legal, and Operations to support financial and operational reporting.
To be considered, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field (with sufficient Accounting coursework/hours). CPA or CPA candidate is preferred, but not required.
- Three or more (3+) years of progressive accounting experience. Previous corporate/industry accounting experience is needed. Public accounting (audit) experience is a plus, although not required.
- Previous experience in a Private Equity-backed company environment is strongly preferred.
- Prior background within the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) industry is highly desirable.
- Proficiency utilizing an accounting ERP system is needed (Netsuite is preferred).
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are needed, with the ability to interface effectively across all levels of an organization.
- Highly organized and capable of prioritizing multiple responsibilities, with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
