We are assisting a fast-paced, stable Renewable Energy in its search for an Assistant Controller. This individual will manage a team of 4 accounting staff, while reporting to the Corporate Controller, and taking on increasing levels of responsibility within a dynamic and progressive business environment. Job duties will include, although not be limited to, the following:
- Overseeing the general ledger, along with the financial reporting functions of the company, while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Managing journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and fixed asset accounting, among other areas.
- Serving as a key player during the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors and internal teams.
- Managing and developing a team of four accounting professionals, while serving as a valuable trainer, reviewer, and mentor.
- Providing financial insights and ad-hoc reporting to the CFO and other company leadership.
- Partnering with the Controller on regulatory compliance and internal control enhancements.
- Supporting the budgeting and forecasting processes, while collaborating with the CFO and FP&A Manager.
- Working cross-functionally on special projects such as ERP upgrades, process improvements, M&A integrations, and other corporate initiatives.
To be considered, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree in Accounting is required.
- At least five (5+) years of post-graduate Accounting or Audit experience is needed.
- Active CPA license is required.
- Public accounting (audit) experience is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience within a relevant industry such as Energy, Utilities, Renewable Energy, etc. is needed, along with exposure to relevant industry reporting and compliance items (i.e. FERC, etc.)
- Previous experience in a managerial / supervisory role is required.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills are needed.
