Expanding, Austin-based Real Estate / Private Equity firm is hiring a Sr. Fund Accountant for a key position. Reporting to the Director of Fund Accounting, this individual will serve as a key player in all aspects of accounting and reporting for Equity investments, including SEC registered equity vehicles, along with Fund Administration and capital activity.
Specific job duties will include the following:
- Participating in the consolidation of fund entities through analysis of complex ownership structures, and applying relevant accounting and financial reporting standards
- Performing full-cycle accounting, including preparation and analysis of GAAP-based financial statements, general ledgers, subsidiary ledgers, budgets, and cash-flow projections
- Accounting for SEC-registered equity vehicles, including performance reporting, while adhering to strict deadlines and other requirements
- Assisting with fund administration, including overseeing third-party fund administrators and other service providers
- Preparation of Fund-level debt reporting and compliance, along with cash projections
- Oversight of capital contributions and distributions, both at the fund level and within joint venture / co-investment structures
- Communicating and interfacing effectively with Investors, while providing ad-hoc reporting as needed
- Coordinating with the external audit firm with respect to the issuance of annual audited financial statements and tax filings
- Taking on progressive managerial duties, while participating in hiring, training, development and mentorship.
Candidates should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree in Accounting is required, along with three (3) or more years of relevant Accounting or Audit experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or active CPA candidate is preferred
- Prior background within Real Estate Investment / Private Equity sector is needed, either through corporate accounting or audit
- Previous experience in public accounting / audit (Big 4 or National firm) is strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of Fund Accounting within the Real Estate sector is needed, along with strong understanding of GAAP and relevant financial reporting items
- Outstanding communication skills are needed (both written and verbal), along with strong interpersonal and team-leadership skills
